Week 3
Dear Families,
We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. This week starts our first week of homework. We have assigned homework every now and then to get the students back into the swing of things. Starting this week, the students have homework every night.
Reading/Writing: Your student is to read each night for 30 minutes. They are to read in English on Monday and Wednesday each week. They are to read in Spanish on Tuesday and Thursday. It is your student's responsibiltiy to get a book. They have library books, books from our reading groups, and they are allowed to take books from both of our classrooms. After reading, your student is to write two paragraphs in their reading log journal. Below are the requirements for each paragraph.
Paragraph 1: Title, Author, Genre and examples of why it is that genre, and If you liked/disliked what you read and why
Paragraph 2: Select a prompt from the list and use the sentence starter to help you get your paragraph started. Then write 3-4 more sentences supporting your sentence starter.
Math: Study your X4 up to 12 for Friday's test. There is also an introduction worksheet to addition and subraction word problems.
Spelling: Each student is assigned to their own spelling group. Below are the group's words.
Blue Group: Black, Flash, Camp, Blame, Place, Frame, Space, Rain, Train, Brain, & Paint
Green Group: Benches, Boxes, Clothes, Churches, Guesses, Foxes, Crashes, Messes, Horses, Leashes, Voices, and Splashes
Key Dates:
Wednesday, September 12 - Wear Whatever Wednesday: Bring a dollar and wear whatever you want to school
Thursday, September 20 - 3rd-5th Open House 5:30-6:30
Thursday, September 27 - Student Pictures & Scout Night (Girl and Boy Scouts 6pm in the cafeteria)
Friday, September 29 - Box Tops Due
